LG Software's 1Click DVD Copy is a reliable, easy-to-use DVD copying software with a simple, sleek-looking interface.

We recommend this program for those of you who would like to use your DVD burners to copy unencrypted DVDs like home movies or data discs.

However, unless you own or plan to purchase a separate decryption software, don't count on using 1Click DVD Copy to backup your encrypted DVD movies.

Our attempts to copy five studio-produced DVD movies without running a decrypter alongside of 1Click DVD Copy prompted a message from the software that said “1Click DVD Copy can not copy encrypted DVD movies.” When we used the software along with SlySoft's popular DVD decryption software, AnyDVD, though, 1Click DVD Copy copied all of our DVD movies just fine.

We liked that after each time we inserted a movie into our DVD drive, the software let us know when “the movie files on the SOURCE DVD total less than 4.7 GB. You can make an exact copy without removing extras or compressing the video.”

Otherwise the software lets you choose whether to exclude extras or episodes, certain languages, subtitles, or movie menus so as to compress the file sizes and allow for them to fit on a writable DVD. 1Click DVD Copy does not give you the option to split up copies of movies onto two writable DVDs. LG Software views this as a good thing (“No need for 2 discs,” they say), but really it depends on your preference, as some people would rather split a DVD into two discs than remove the extras. We would prefer to have the option.

One feature of 1Click DVD Copy that we think gives it an edge over the competition is its unique, useful error correction technology – dubbed CPRx™ – which prevents bad sectors on a DVD from ruining the copying process. Unlike other DVD copying software programs that produce error-ridden copies because of bad sectors, 1Click DVD Copy made perfect copies of all the DVDs we tried burning.

We also liked that 1Click DVD Copy lets you backup movies onto your hard drive. This is a great feature to have if you own a laptop and like to take it on the road with you to watch movies, or if you're one to occasionally pull up a comfy chair and watch a movie on your home computer. 1Click DVD Copy eliminates the need for lugging around a case full of DVDs, since you can simply store your backed up movies on a folder on your desktop.

At $59, 1Click DVD Copy is well-priced, considering that with your purchase you also get a free copy of LG Software's CopytoDVD SE program, which lets you backup music, movies, video, photos and data files onto writable DVDs.

If you're on a budget and you're not planning on backing up your encrypted DVDs – or you have a decrypter – then 1Click DVD Copy is a good choice.

Pros:
Intuitive interface, easy to use
CPRx™ technology corrects errors caused by bad sectors
Lets you backup movies onto your hard drive

Cons:
Does not copy encrypted DVDs without a decrypter
Forces you to remove extras when movie files are too large(no feature to allow for splitting movies into two discs)
