Norton Program Errors

Repair Norton Program Errors

The Norton suite of security tools is a very popular selection of applications that are designed to give you Internet security and protection from the viruses, spyware, and adware that reside all over the Internet.

As well as operating as a fully functioning antispyware or antivirus program that scans your computer and removes malicious software or cleans files, Norton programs also offer ongoing protection. Problems can occur because once installed, Norton programs need to scan deep into the registry and program files. Changes to the program itself or a slight corruption of the application can lead to any of a number of errors.

Actual Norton Program Errors

There are an incredibly large number of potential Norton program errors. Some of these include messages that display stating that problems occurred when trying to communicate with the server or that Norton has encountered an internal error. It is difficult to know exactly why these problems occur but usual reasons include using too much of your computer resource, conflicting files, or malicious software that directly attempts to attack the Norton program files.

Fixing Norton Errors – Symantec AutoFix Tool

The first step you should try if you are experiencing Norton program errors is to use the Symantec AutoFix Tool. This can be found on the Symantec website at Symantec.com. Ensure that all programs are closed apart from your browser. Once you begin the AutoFix tool it will scan your system and direct you towards one of several possible options. These options include technical documents outlining a manual solution, a required file or program that you should download, or a specific virus removal tool. Follow the on screen instructions and then test whether the solution was successful.

Fixing Norton Errors – Check Your Internet Settings

Ensure your Internet settings are set to their default. Under “Internet Options” in the “Tools” menu select the “Security” tab. Ensure that the following are all set to default levels:

  • Internet
  • Local Intranet
  • Trusted Sites
  • Restricted Sites

Also, in the “Default” tab choose the default selection. Click “Apply” and then click “OK”. Once completed, test your Norton application to ensure that the fix has worked.

Fixing Norton Errors – Reinstall Norton Programs

If all else fails then you should attempt a complete uninstall and reinstall of the Symantec software. Ensure that you use the correct Windows procedure to do this otherwise it can leave invalid or corrupt entries in the Windows registry. Open your “Control Panel” and select the “Add/Remove Programs” option and uninstall all Norton programs. Restart your computer and reinstall the programs.

Fixing Norton Errors – Third Party Software Recommendations

If this fails then you will need to consider looking at using a third party application to assist in fixing the problem. RegCure is a stand-alone registry cleaner that scans the Windows registry for invalid entries, corrupt entries, and missing files. Many Norton program errors begin because of errors found in this are of your Windows operating system. Conflicting files are commonplace especially if you have recently installed or uninstalled new programs. Even deleting or editing the content of documents or other settings can cause problems. If your Norton programs use these settings then this is when errors occur.

Why Use RegCure?

RegCure is quick but surprisingly powerful. The quick scan technology that RegCure uses ensures that while the program can perform a deep scan, rooting out all potential problems, it can do so quickly and efficiently. RegCure can find and resolve any issues that are harboring themselves within your Windows registry. This includes corrupt or missing data as well as Norton files that are incomplete.

Norton Program Errors And RegCure

Norton is a highly valued member of Internet security world. Many people use one of the various applications to prevent spyware or virus attacks but Norton programs can attract there own problems.
