This backdoor application can be used to access your system remotely bypassing security settings or it can be used to automatically steal personal information such as website access details, bank account and credit card information, and personally identifiable information. With this information it is conceivable that hackers or other third parties may gain access to your bank account and steal other personal information. Dvr.exe is considered a high security risk because of its capabilities. Manual removal is not advised because drv does not typically travel alone and usually installs various files and adds a number of registry entries. These registry entries are used to ensure that the virus is active as soon as you turn on your PC while several variants of the file are added in order to make it more difficult to locate and subsequently remove. Associated Errors – Backdoor worms are among the more difficult threats to find manually. They work silently in the background of your computer enabling access to your system from a remote location. In most cases the first and most obvious symptom is the identification of drv.exe as being a backdoor application by your security software. Recommended Solution – Download the latest updates for your security software and run a complete scan of your system. Ensure that the scanner checks your Windows system files, program files, and the Windows registry for any and all instances of spyware and viruses. Take the recommended action with each file or setting that is found. Typically this will mean cleaning or removing the file/s from your system in order to avoid the negative and detrimental affects of the worm. You should also consider backing up your registry before you begin and cleaning it once you have removed this threat.
