Error 1607

Description – InstallShield is the software installation wizard that many applications and programs use. When installing a program on Windows it helps to ensure that all drivers and other files are situated in the appropriate locations and that all of the necessary components are copied to your computer.

Associated Errors – One of the most common errors with any attempted InstallShield installation displays the error message “Error 1607 – Unable To Install InstallShield Scripting Run Time”. Unfortunately, this is a generic error message and the exact reason that you are receiving this error depends on a number of factors – your computer settings, the software you are attempting to install, and what else your computer was doing during the failed installation.

Recommended Solution – Because of the generic nature of this error it is difficult to pinpoint a single, effective solution. However, there are several possible resolutions that may solve your particular problem.

Visit the InstallShield.com website and download the latest version of the ISScript engine. This engine is used by all InstallShield installations and the latest engine contains updates and fixes that may solve the error on your computer.

Ensure that all the files and InstallShield files are located on your computer's hard drive. If they are located on a network drive or removable media this may be preventing the installation from completing successfully.

Attempt the installation through a user account on your system that has full administration settings. Some users have reported errors when attempting an installation on other users, and have reported that using the administrative user has resolved this issue.

Always ensure that the options and settings within the particular installation you are running are correct. Check the installation path does not contain invalid characters and, if it does, replace this path with a valid one to ensure that the InstallShield wizard can complete successfully.
