Http Errors Description – When surfing the Internet it is not uncommon to see a number of pages return nothing more than error http codes and a brief message displaying the specific reason for the error. Http errors can be server errors, browser errors, client errors, or connection errors and they all typically mean that you will be unable to view the specific page you were attempting to navigate to. Each error code presented, for example error 403, represents a very different problem. Some can be resolved quickly and easily by the person surfing the Internet while others represent a problem on the end of the web developer or the website host server. Associated Errors – The following are some of the more common error http codes and their meanings. 301 – this means that a page has been permanently moved or redirected. The page may contain a link to the new page but should automatically redirect to the new URL in a given amount of time. 302 – similar to a 301 this means that a page has been moved but only permanently. Some webmasters leave these pages up for a long period of time and may include an auto redirect or not. 404 – the page you have attempted to connect to could not be found. This is usually a sign that you entered incorrect page information into the browser. Check that you spelled everything correctly and that you included the appropriate extensions, domains, and top level domains, as well as the proper protocol identifier (e.g. Http). As well as these error http codes there are many others that you may witness while surfing the Internet. Recommended Solution – Each error has its own solution. There are some that you, as a surfer, will be able to do nothing about while others may automatically correct the error. If in any doubt search the net using the error code given to find the reason for the error and, where appropriate, what can be done to resolve it.
