Fix OCX errors Description – OCX files, like DLL files, are a major part of the Windows registry. Also referred to as Active X Controls these .ocx files are subroutines that are called and executed from within applications, programs, or other code. The Windows system folders, usually within the system 32 folder, contain a number of OCX files although others may also appear within specific program folders. Associated Errors – Like any file stored on a computer an OCX file can become corrupt or damaged. This can occur through human error, for example when attempting to manually clean the Windows registry and system folders. It can also occur because of infection by spyware or viruses. Regardless of how it happens corrupt files are a problem. Missing OCX files also cause errors. Again this can happen when attempting to manually clean out the registry but it can also happen when uninstalling an application that uses this OCX file. The file may be removed even though it is still require by other applications. Recommended Solution – Replacing an OCX file isn't too difficult a job as long as you know the exact file required. Some Windows error messages will display the exact file that is required while others are much more vague in their information. Update any software that has been affected by the errors you are receiving because the updating process will typically mean the reinstallation of dll files that may have been accidentally or maliciously deleted. Also update your Windows operating system files and folders using the Windows updater. Some releases include fixes for common OCX problems. Manually search for the missing or corrupt OCX file on the Internet, download it, and save it to the relevant folder on your computer. Don't forget that some OCX files should be resident within the program folder while others need to be within the system32 folder of your computer.
