Do you get lsass.exe errors whenever you reboot Windows?

Description lsass.exe is a critical process required by the Windows operating system, but as is common for spyware and virus applications it has also been adopted by at least two threats that need to be removed from your machine.

Malware applications commonly adopt and use the names of these genuine processes because it helps to ensure that users are less likely to remove the file. In the case of the genuine lsass.exe process the removal of this file can lead to extensive problems because the process needs to exist and be enabled in order that your system can effectively startup and run. For this reason it is absolutely essential to ensure that you do not delete or disable the genuine process.

There are two other commonly known instances of the lsass.exe process. One is a Trojan that opens backdoor access to your system. Through this backdoor security breach hackers can gain access to your system where they can alter and even remove critical components of your system, steal personal information, and perform many other undesirable tasks without your knowledge or consent.

Lsass.exe is also known to be a downloader that is installed with other malware. It will sit resident on your system and download other instances of spyware and viruses to your machine. The longer a downloader like this remains within your system the more damage it can potentially do and so its quick removal is highly advised.

Associated Errors lsass.exe could be a genuine process running on your machine, but it could also be a downloader or a remote access Trojan. In the latter two instances the most likely symptoms will be unauthorized access to the Internet (usually shown by your resident Firewall) and errors when you attempt to use your PC.

Recommended Solution It is absolutely essential that you determine whether you have the genuine instance of lsass.exe or another, potentially harmful version. The best, safest, and most effective way to do this is to run antispyware and antivirus scans on your machine. You should run these manually because some malicious applications can prevent the resident protection and routine scans that you have set up on your security software.

Any infections found by these applications should be immediately removed or cleaned in order to ensure the safe and effective running of your machine.
