Fixing software uninstall errors Description – There are many reasons users choose to uninstall applications. This can rise from a problem with the application itself, a problem with the latest installation attempt, conflict errors, or infected files. Alternatively, cleaning out your system and uninstalling any unnecessary or obsolete applications is also a good way to free up system resources and ensure that you get the best performance from your machine. One of the more common types of error message is that the uninstallation file has become corrupt or is missing. This makes the removal of the application, either through the application file itself or through the Windows control panel impossible. However, manually deleting the files does not do a particularly good job of clearing all the data on your system related to that particular program. This is because entries will still remain in the registry and any system settings and required system files may also be left behind. Continuously performing this kind of operation is likely to cause problems in the long run. Associated Errors – A missing, damaged, or corrupt uninstallation file will make it impossible to properly remove the application without further action. You will usually receive an error message informing you of any of these problems or, alternatively, the Windows control panel will freeze when you attempt to uninstall the application with seemingly no explanation of what has happened. Recommended Solution – The best solution is to reinstall the application. This will replace all of the required files for running and, more importantly, removing the application itself. Once installed, restart your computer if necessary, and then run the uninstaller as normal to remove the program.
