What Does Spam Controls Auto Purge Do?

Spam Controls is an anti spam and phishing detection application that offers results among the best in the industry. Combining several spam recognition and prevention techniques it provides your system and your email application with a method of minimizing the amount of unnecessary and essentially useless email that you receive. All of the emails deemed to be scan are placed in the PL Spam Controls folder meaning that you still have the capability to check them and ensure they really are spam. This way it is possible to prevent the accidental deletion of essential emails from genuine contacts.
Cleaning Out The Spam Controls Email Folder
While the PL Spam Controls offers this extra level of defense and security against spam and ensuring that you only delete spam it can become filled with email. Without the regular cleaning out or emptying of the Spam Controls folder your email application is likely to suffer from poor performance and may slow down to an unusable level. For this reason it is vital that you empty or purge the contents of the PL Spam Controls folder. Fortunately, Spam Controls offers a method of doing this manually or automatically.
Manually Purging The Folder
In Outlook and Outlook Express the Purge button can be used to manually perform a one off purge of the emails currently contained within the PL Spam Controls folder. Depending on the settings you have chosen in Spam Controls you may receive a confirmation dialog box. In order to proceed with purging the emails you will need to confirm your action. If you have disabled this confirmation dialog then it will not appear and the purging will begin automatically.
Auto Purging The PL Spam Controls Folder
As well as this manual purging method there is also a convenient auto purge option within the main ParetoLogic Spam Controls Options page.
1 - Open the ParetoLogic dashboard by double clicking on the program icon on your desktop or the icon in your system tray.
2 - Click the Options link in the top left menu of the program.
3 - There are two options on this page that are associated with the automatic purging of your Spam Controls email folder. At the very bottom of the page these two options can be used to streamline the purging process.
Auto Purging Period
The first option “Purge PL Spam Controls folder every 90 days” is the main option. Users can select any period of days in which to complete the Purge with a possible range of between 1 and 90 days. How often you purge the emails will depend on how many spam emails you receive on a daily basis as well as how often you check the Spam Controls folder.
The Purging Confirmation Dialog Box
When purging the folder a confirmation dialog box is displayed asking you to confirm that you wish to empty the Spam Controls folder. By deselecting the bottom box “Display Purge Confirmation dialog when purging spam email” this message is no longer displayed and, instead, the emails will be instantly purged. If you leave the tick in the box you will need to provide confirmation each time the emails are purged.
Auto Purging Spam
Auto Purging enables users to minimize the size of the Spam Controls folder, and therefore reduce the risk of a poor performing email application. The confirmation dialog box can be used to serve as a reminder that you need to check the contents of the Spam Controls folder, otherwise you can disable this pop-up so that Spam Controls can run effectively with very little user intervention.
