ParetoLogic Spam Controls Integration

ParetoLogic Spam Controls is an anti spam application that integrates perfectly into Outlook and Outlook Express email clients. By combining several different spam recognition techniques with Allow and Block Lists Spam Controls can minimize or prevent the delivery of spam email into your Inbox. One of the big benefits of the Spam Controls program is that it runs in the background of your PC in real time. As soon as you receive an email or emails they will be scanned and checked for the likelihood of containing spam. Any emails discovered to contain spam content will be placed in the PL Spam Controls folder.

The Spam Controls Toolbar

Spam Controls from ParetoLogic also installs its own toolbar into your email client enabling you to quickly mark emails as spam or not spam, among other options. Marking an email as spam will move that email to the Spam Controls folder and provide you with the options of adding the sender to the Block list and sending the email to ParetoLogic to report it as being spam. Alternatively, marking an email that appears within the Spam Controls folder as not spam will remove the email from the spam folder and place it in your Inbox. If you have blocked that sender you will also be provided with the option of removing them from the Block list.

The Spam Dialog Window

When you click the Spam button in the Spam Controls toolbar a pop-up dialog window displays.

Options

This gives you the option of Adding the Sender of that email to your Block List. Once a sender is in your Block List all future emails received from that same email address will be instantly treated as spam and moved to the spam folder. You also have the option to report the email as being spam to ParetoLogic.

In the majority of cases we treat spam emails in the same fashion. Certainly we would most likely wish to add the sender to our Block List. On this dialog screen it is possible to select the options you wish to use every time you mark an email as spam, highlight the “Don't Ask Again” box and click OK. Having done this Spam Controls will treat all emails marked as spam in the same way without displaying this dialog box again.

Altering Settings Using The Spam Controls Dashboard

Another way to permanently set these settings is through the main Spam Controls dashboard. Open Spam Controls and click on the Options link to navigate to the main Options page.

Display “Mark As Spam” and “Mark As Not Spam” Dialogs - the first option in the Interface Settings page allows you to enable or disable the dialog that is displayed when you click the Spam or Not Spam buttons. Ticking this first box means that the dialog boxes will be displayed each time. Removing the tick prevents the boxes from displaying. Spam Controls will treat the email according to your settings in the next two boxes.

Automatically add sender to the appropriate list – placing a tick in this box will ensure that the sender of any email marked as spam is added to your Block List and you will not receive any future emails from this address. If you have enabled the Mark As box above then this option will prefill when the dialog opens. If you have selected not to receive the dialogs then it will happen as soon as you click the button with no confirmation needed.

Automatically send a report – ticking this box means that when you mark an email as spam it will be reported to ParetoLogic. Again, if you have opted to view the dialog window then the appropriate action will be prefilled, otherwise it will occur as soon as you press the button.

Continuing Using Your Email

Once you have enabled and disabled the options you decide on simply close the Paretologic dashboard and continue using your spam protected email as normal.
