What Does Purge Mean?
ParetoLogic Spam Controls
Spam Controls is a fully featured and effective anti spam and phishing prevention program. It integrates with Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, and scans emails as they arrive in order to find any that contain spam content or possible phishing attempts. Spam Controls works in the background of your computer and is always-on in order to deliver results that are among the best in the industry. As well as the main Spam Controls dashboard users also gain access to a toolbar in their email client and a Spam folder where spam and phishing emails are placed.

The PL Spam
Controls Folder
Once an email has been checked and is flagged as being spam it is moved directly to the PL Spam Controls sub folder. This sub folder can be found within the Inbox of your main email client and accessed in the same way as any other folder. It is important that, certainly initially, you check the contents of this folder occasionally to ensure that no genuine emails have been flagged as spam. While it is unusual this can happen, especially if you receive emails that contain content often deemed as being spam topics (adult material, online medication, etc...). If you do find genuine email then click the Not Spam button to remove the email from the Spam Controls folder and place it back in your email Inbox.

Marking Emails As Spam
By browsing your Inbox and other folders (excluding the Spam Controls folder) it is also possible to mark any suspicious emails as being spam by clicking the Spam button in the toolbar. This will automatically send the email to the spam folder and give you the opportunity to Block the sender's email and report the email to ParetoLogic. Blocking senders is another method that can be used to prevent the mass of spam that many Internet users now suffer.
Purging The Spam Controls Folder
As more and more spam email is detected, the PL Spam Controls folder can quickly become filled with unnecessary and potentially damaging email. Fortunately, Spam Controls provides users with a method of removing these emails either manually or automatically. By purging the PL Spam Controls all emails can be removed from this folder and into the Recycle or Trash bin within your email application. Purging is a necessary task because once the Spam folder becomes too full it can slow down the operation of your email client, although this should not become an issue for quite some time.
Establishing A Schedule To Routinely Purge Emails
Spam Controls also enables users to establish a schedule for purging emails. This ensures that the spam folder never becomes over filled even if you forget to routinely remove the emails yourself. Automatic purge settings can be altered so that purging takes place every day, or any number of days according to your own choice. If you also have Outlook or Outlook Express set so that it empties the Deleted Items folder on a regular basis then you can completely remove all spam emails and other dubious emails without any intervention on your part.
