SpyAxe Summary: Today, spyware, malware, and adware are an unfortunate fact of life. Manual removal of them from our computers is not only possible, but also, it is necessary. Read more to discover what you need to do to remove this troublesome pest.

Details: SpyAxe, also referred to as Spy Axe, is an application software program that presents a continual flow of messages that indicate the existence of a security threat to the computer. The messages, which generally arrive as pop up windows, falsely state that viruses, malware, and/or adware has been found on the computer and needs to be removed. The pop ups suggest that the computer user purchase a full version of SpyAxe to remove the unwanted software.

Typically, SpyAxe is installed without the computer user’s knowledge and may come with a variety of Trojans attached to it. The purpose of this program is to convince the computer user to purchase the program, SpyAxe, to remove the problems that it has actually caused. SpyAxe can change the browser, add additional software, and slow down the computer.

If your computer is infected with this program, SpyAxe, you will receive warnings that your computer has been infected. Along with the warning, there will be a recommendation that you purchase the full version of SpyAxe in order to remove the spyware, malware, and adware. This is simply a ruse to get the computer user to spend money.

Once you purchase SpyAxe, the pop ups will stop in an attempt to trick you into believing the installed program has resolved the situation of unwanted spyware, malware, and adware. In fact, however, SpyAxe has done nothing of the sort, and will continue to track your browsing habits, as well as send targeted advertisements to you.

How, in fact, does such a program manage to install itself onto a computer without the owner’s knowledge? Unfortunately, a flaw or weakness in the Windows Operating System allows the rogue application, SpyAxe, as well as many others, to install itself without the permission of knowledge of the computer owner.

An attempt can be made to remove SpyAxe manually. You will need to follow the steps provided here:

  • Go to Noahdfear using your Internet browser.

  • You will need to download the SmitRemfix.

  • Save the file for SmitRemfix to your desktop.

  • Next, you need to uninstall all of the files into a folder, since you do not want to run the program until your computer is in safe mode. Double clicking on the icon and clicking on the word start will accomplish this. It will create its own individual folder as it extracts the files.

  • Click ok when it has finished extracting all of the files.

  • Now, you must restart your computer in safe mode. You can do this by rebooting your computer and pressing the F8 button while it is rebooting. You must do this before the Windows icon appears on the screen.

  • Open the SmitRem folder that is on your desktop.

  • Double click on the icon titled “RunThis.bat,” and this will begin scanning your computer for spyware.

  • Follow the prompts in order to complete the process. Read each window as it appears. Allow the scan to complete its task.

  • If an uninstall window for SpyAxe appears, it is important that you click uninstall. It will automatically close upon completion of the uninstall process.

  • Follow the prompts that are given.

  • Once all installations have been completed, the disk cleanup program will run. This will remove any temporary or leftover files from the SpyAxe program.

  • Reboot your computer into normal mode when the disk cleanup program has finished running.

It may be necessary to use a different method of removing SpyAxe from your computer. Variants are created frequently for spyware, adware, and viruses so that they can proliferate and continue operating on your computer.

If you are uncomfortable with the manual removal, you may want to consider an alternative method, such as purchasing a reputable Anti-Spyware such as ParetoLogic's. If you decide to go ahead with the manual removal of SpyAxe, back up all of your files prior to beginning.
