Remove unwanted programs automatically with ParetoLogic Antispyware

A software application known for tracking Internet use, 180solutions.SearchAssistant is a form of adware. It is able to access entry to computers through browser security holes.

Typically, it comes bundled with additional advertiser supported programs, adware or spyware, thus putting a strain on the Internet bandwidth associated with the infected computer. This program, along with most adware and spyware programs, can lead to a disruption in the processing of the computer as well as a diminished capacity for Internet browsing on the part of the infected computer’s owner.

This program tracks the computer user’s browsing habits, sending information on the pages visited to its server. The server to which 180solutions.SearchAssistant communicates then transmits advertisements specific to the web page categories visited in an attempt to market the products of affiliates.

Possibly, 180solutions.SearchAssistant evolved from an old program that paid users to surf the web. In fact, 180solutions.SearchAssistant gets its financial benefit through the advertising pop ups that it generates on infected computers.

This particular program seems to track website usage only, and is not known for tracking personal information. The logs of every web page visited are kept however and used to identify the particular pop up advertisements that should be generated.

A heavily marketed application, 180solutions.SearchAssistant is associated with many affiliates. Some of the variants of 180solutions.SearchAssistant include SVA Player, SVAPlayer, nCase, 180 solutions, 180search Assistant, and 180 search Assistant.

Major features of this adware program are: ability to reinstall, ability to auto start, ability to connect to the Internet, stealth tactics, ability to show pop up advertisements, ability to install other programs, and ability to change the browser.

Later versions of 180solutions.SearchAssistant permit the disabling of the logging or tracking of web page visits through their icon residing in the tray. This adware has shown evidence that it can reinstall itself on the infected computer. Therefore, it is critical that the host application be deleted prior to removing the program.

In order to do this, go to the Windows folder and open the Downloaded Program Files folder. Within this, search for the phrase that is specific to the variant of 180solutions.SearchAssistant that your computer is infected with and delete it, for example, nCase/INST/SA variant or nCase/Inst/nc variant.

If you would like to remove 180solutions.SearchAssistant manually, follow these instructions:
For Windows XP in the classic view, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, and Windows NT:
• Click start.
• Click on settings.
• Click control panel.
• Double click the “add/remove programs” icon in the control panel window.
• Search for the 180solutions.SearchAssistant program in the list of entries.
• Click on the phrase, 180solutions.SearchAssistant to highlight or select it.
• Click on the button that will remove it, either “add/remove” or change/remove.
• Follow the prompts that are given to remove 180solutions.SearchAssistant.
• Next, you will need to reboot your computer.
• Open the add/remove programs icon and check to see if 180solutions.SearchAssistant has been removed from the list of programs.

If you are using Windows XP in the default XP view, the option, settings, is not in the menu. Follow all remaining steps for removal as those listed above.
