Rundll Error Solution

Rundll errors can be annoying with the disruption to your computer’s processing that they create. It is quite likely that the Rundll errors occurring on your computer are the result of the presence of undetected and undeleted spyware.

However, other reasons exist for this problem as well, including buggy software, a virus, or a drive error, spyware. Additionally, an incomplete or faulty installation of software or an incorrectly performed uninstall of a program can also lie at the root of the problem.

When Windows attempts to load a file, but isn’t able to do so, it causes an error. If the reason that Windows was not able to load the file is simply because it could not locate the file, this is known as a Rundll error.

Nonetheless, there are solutions to this temporary problem. The first step to take is to do a simple reboot of your computer. If this does not solve the problem, you will need to continue to another possible fix.

Since it is possible that the Rundll error has been caused by a faulty procedure to uninstall a program, the next step to take is to redo the uninstall procedure. In order to do this, it will be necessary to reinstall the program, and then to complete a new uninstall of the program. If you perform a clean uninstall and the problem goes away, you have solved the problem and there is nothing left to do.

However, if this does not solve the problem, then the next step is to run an anti-spyware application. Use the anti-spyware program to remove any adware, spyware, or malware programs that exist on your computer. Be sure that you also run a virus scan. If the Rundll errors continue to be a problem, then you will need to continue troubleshooting.

This is the last option, and hopefully it is a successful option. You will need to perform a clean boot. In order to perform a clean boot on your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Click start to open the menu.

  2. Click run.

  3. Type ‘msconfig’ in the input field.

  4. Click ok. The System Configuration Utility will open.

  5. Once you are in the System Configuration Utility, choose the selective startup option by clicking in the small circle in front of it. Deselect all but one of the choices that are listed below it. It doesn’t matter which one you select, because you will need to do this until you have covered each one of the choices.

  6. Click ok, and reboot your computer.

  7. Once this process helps to identify the item in the checkbox that is at the root of the rundll problem, you will move to the next step. Next, select the tab at the top of the System Configuration Utility Window that corresponds to the item identified as the problem.

  8. Deselect all but one of the choices below the tab.

  9. Reboot your computer. If the computer reboots without any problems, continue the process of elimination. Deselect different scenarios until you identify the problem. Reboot.

  10. Once you identify the problematic item, you are finished with this procedure.

Now that you have identified the problematic item, you will need to contact the company responsible for the identified product. You should have this information stored somewhere with the paperwork that came with the troublesome program or hardware. If you do not have this information handy, check online to get it.
