Runtime Error Repair

When a computer experiences a problem, a message indicating the type of problem generally appears on the monitor screen.  Run time errors are one of these problems.

Run time errors are indicators of a problem that can either be serious or minor depending on the cause.  Quite often, Run time errors are the result of a program crashing due to an encounter with corrupt codes.  Basically, this means that the software being used has a few “bugs” or problems that the designers expected but could not avoid.  One example of this type of problem, which will cause run time errors, is running out of memory. 

Furthermore, the presence of adware or spyware can cause run time errors.  Running a good anti-spyware/adware program to remove these will work wonders for your computer’s processing capacity.

Typically, the run time message will give some information about the error without actually explaining it in detail.  More often than not, you will learn little of value from the message since it will be vague at best.  This is unfortunate since a variety of run time errors can occur.

If they do not have an error code listed, they might include a short phrase.  Either way, the message and its information do not tell the computer user very much at all.  In effect, the message tells the user that there is a problem, which the computer user already knew since the computer malfunctioned.

Perhaps the reason for the runtime error doesn’t even necessarily need to be included in the message in order to solving the problem.  Maybe it was caused by a lack of memory, a virus infection, broken script on a web page, or an incompatibility of programs or software.  The computer user probably has a very good idea what it was since it has something to do with his activity on the computer at that time.

If a virus caused the run time error, rebooting the computer would allow the virus to remain in the computer, possibly infecting other critical files.  Rather than expose the system files in your computer to a malicious virus by rebooting, run a virus scan just in case.  This is where the ounce of prevention is definitely worth the time involved.

If you are fortunate, you will know the name of the software program that encountered the problem.  Use it to contact the manufacturer or developer of the software that caused the problem.  Ask if they can give you a ‘fix’ or ‘patch’ for the program so that it does not occur again.  Sometimes, the situation can be remedied by something as simple as an update or download from the Internet.  Occasionally, it may require reconfiguring the settings of the software program.

• Open Internet Explorer.
• Click on tools at the top.
• Click on Internet Options.
• Click on the tab labeled advanced.
• Mark the line labeled ‘disable script debugging.’
• Remove the mark in front of the line labeled ‘display a notification about every script error.’
• Click ok.
