TZ Connection Booster Review

Maybe you are a little technologically challenged. Maybe you like to keep things simple. Or maybe you are just plain cheap. For whatever reason, you are still using a dial-up connection for your Internet service, and you have no intention of upgrading any time soon. The problem is that you are not able to enjoy all of what the World Wide Web has to offer. Streaming videos, music downloads (all legal, of course) and gaming are virtually impossible to do with your current system. You also keep missing out on that great deal on eBay because your Broadband competitors are able to buy and sell items much faster than you. So what do you do when you do want to spend the money on a faster internet connection, but you still want to improve your system enough to that you can get the speed that you need to participate in auctions, play games or download video and audio? Before, you had very limited options but there are a new batch of programs coming up that claim to speed up your Internet connection. TZ Connection Booster is one of them.

The TZ Connection Booster Wizard claims that it can configure just about any modem, ADSL, Cable, DSL, and LAN connection types for better performance for improved connection speed, which will help you surf the Web, play games, and download files must faster than you were before. It also states that it can improve your Internet Explorer browser for better stability. In addition the TZ Connection Booster Wizard states that it can keep your Internet connection more secure and put an end to those annoying signal disconnections that are often associated with dialup. He TZ Connection Booster Wizard is also supposed to add speed greater than 115200 to your modem settings, Speed up your Internet connection without any communication or networking background requirements (which is great if you are not the most technologically advanced person in the world), automatically detects your OS to show you what settings are the best for your system, adjusts Maximum Transmission Unit and maximum segment size, and automatically detects the Maximum Transmission Unit for all networks along the path to a remote host, which helps prevent many common performance and fragmentation problems. The TZ Connection Booster wizard is also supposed to detect any router problems that may prevent the Maximum Transmission Unit discovery process to be completed correctly.

After downloading the product, I think that overall it is a good product as long as you have realistic expectations about what it can do for your Internet connection. The  TZ Connection Booster is a wizard program, which means that there is no magic button you can push that is going to instantly speed up your make your dial up Internet connection lightning fast. That the wizard does is allow you to set you preferences in such a way that you can have the fastest speed possible for your connection. You will not be able to have the system running, or actively make changes while it is being run.

When you launch the TZ Connection Booster Wizard,  you will be given the opportunity to configure the Maximum Transmission Unit and Maximum Segment Size. TZ Connection has a default setting for both of these that you can use, or you can configure the MTU and MSS to fit whatever unique needs that you may have.  The system will take you through about seven different steps in total, which will include setting the preferences to your TTL, Keep Alive Time and your RWIN size. After you are finished setting your preferences and making all of the required changed, you will then need to restart your computer. Once you have rebooted, you should be able to notice some improvements in the speed of your Internet connection. The settings are very descriptive and easy to understand, so you should have no problems following the prompts and setting the preferences according to the instructions.

Here are come screenshots of the Connection Wizard:

Before I downloaded the system I had saw some complaints from people who said that it did not help them or that the increase in speed was not up to their liking. Once again,  I think this is where having realistic expectations come in. I cannot speak for all of those people who complained about TZ Connection Booster Wizard, but I know that in my case, I did see a noticeable improvement in the speed of my Internet connection. It doesn’t take nearly as long for web pages to load and it doesn’t take as long to download audio and video clips. Will the TZ Connection Booster Wizard give you Broadband speed? Probably not, but it does make your dial up connection more efficient.

I also noticed that my Road Runner Speed was faster than it was before installing the connection wizard. Before setting up the TZ Connection Wizard, my Road Runner speed ran on average of 3.4 megabits per second. But now my speed is at 4.3 megabits per second.

I also wanted to make sure that the improvements that I was seeing were real, and not some kind of cyber placebo effect. So I pinged some common websites before and after running the TZ Connection Booster Wizard just to see if there were any measurable improvements. Here is the result of some of my findings:

Sites pinged after running the TZ Connection Booster Wizard:

Softpedia: average connection speed = 5ms
Yahoo: average connection speed = 187 ms
Google: average connection speed = 137 ms
NYSE: average connection speed = 4ms

Sites pinged after running the TZ Connection Booster Wizard:

Softpedia: average connection speed = 3 ms
Yahoo: average connection speed = 188 ms
Google: average connection speed = 135 ms
NYSE: average connection speed = 3 ms

I admit, that does not look like a huge difference, but trust me, those extra milliseconds here and there really do add up, especially is you do a lot of work or play on the computer. My job requires me to be on the Internet almost constantly, and waiting even an extra couple of seconds for a page to load costs me a significant amount of time and money at the end of the day. So if you do not spend a great deal of time online, you may not need this product but if use the Internet for work, study, downloading or gamine, they you should definitely consider downloading the TZ Connection Booster Wizard.

Another good thing about the program is that the download is free, and it is easy to uninstall if you later realize that you do not need the wizard or that it does not work for you. Since this was a free download, I was worried that I was going to be bombarded with all kinds of adware, spyware and viruses but I had no problems with that whatsoever. I haven’t received any pop ups or strange desktop icons since downloading the program. Just to make sure nothing corrupt was put on my computer, I ran a test on SpyBot and on AdWare and not problem files were discovered. So this is a pretty safe product that will not mess up you hard drive in any way.

Here are some other things that the TZ Connection Booster Wizard can do for your computer:

· Optimize the configuration of your Windows registry
· Optimize the configuration of your files of initialization.
· Configure your Network Interface Card (NIC) for maximum performance
· Configure the buffer IRQ your PCI cards.
· Configure your Internet Explorer browser for maximum performance
· Configure your cache cable as well as your ADSL Speed.
· Optimize your configuration access when your dial up service is looking for a connection.

One of the drawbacks to the program was that the default settings are set way too high,  which can result in some website freezing or taking a long time to load. The can be easily fixes by changing the preferences, but you may not feel like doing all of that extra work. Some people have reported that they were not able to ping some sites because the way the default setting were set up, but I didn’t encounter that problem. But you can always go back to your original settings or play around with some new ones until you find the formula that is right for you. Like I stated earlier, you may be a little disappointed that the speed difference is not more noticeable, but I think that it will still benefit people who use the Internet a lot and need every second they can get.

In conclusion, I think that the TZ Connection Booster Wizard is a decent product, and I see no harm in giving it a try. Your Internet  connection will not sky rocket through the roof., but every bit of tweaking you can get definitely does help.
